Gr./ro.c. by VALUE PLUS – WESTERN RESOLVE by WEST BY WEST
Let’s Go Stable’s latest acquisition is this spectacular two-year-old colt from the first crop of Value Plus, a record-breaking son of Unbridled’s Song.
This colt established himself as one of the standouts of the OBS March Two-Year-Old in Training Sale, working a quarter mile in 21 seconds flat.
He is from the first crop of Value Plus, himself a $1,100,000 yearling purchase. Under the care of Todd Pletcher (who will also train this colt), Value Plus was a grade one performer at two and three, and trained on at four to win the Artax Handicap by four lengths over grade one winner Gygistar, while setting a new track record.
Bred on a cross rated A by TrueNicks, Let’s Go’s colt is out of Western Resolve, a stakes performer by Gone West’s grade one winning son, West By West. We can note that the cross of a son of a Unbridled’s Song over a mare by West By West – an identical pedigree pattern to this – has already resulted in graded stakes winner Praying For Cash. In addition, Unbridled’s Song has sired graded stakes winner Forest Music out of a mare by Gone West, a very similar pattern.
The precocious Western Resolve earned black-type by finishing second in the near $150,000 Shady Well Stakes on her racecourse debut, beaten only by Champion Canadian Two-Year-Old and millionaire Ginger Gold. Western Resolve’s only other foal of racing age, Live the Dash, a two-year-old of 2008, is a maiden special weight winner, and second, beaten a nose, in an allowance race, from two starts. Western Resolve is herself half-sister to Wanna Cuddle, a stakes winner at two in 2008, and already a stakes winner and stakes placed in two starts in 2009.
Western Resolve is out of Something Light, a daughter of multiple grade one winner Time For a Change, and a half-sister to Stolen Gold, a stakes winning two-year-old, who was also multiple graded stakes placed, including when second in the Hollywood Futurity (G1). Western Resolve’s granddam, Stolie, captured the Bourbonette Stakes, and was multiple stakes placed. She is a sister to listed and multiple stakes winner Jonowo, herself granddam of millionaire Nightmare Affair, winner of the Smile Sprint Handicap (G2), and several times stakes placed, including when third in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1).
As a registered Florida-bred, this colt is eligible for numerous valuable restricted events, including the OBS Championship Stakes, Sunshine Millions and NATC Futurity.
